For a wonderful journey and exploration of early twentieth century life in Scotland, the reader could not find a more intriguing book. Molly Weir writes with warmth, imagination and humor of what it is like to be a poor child in Glasgow, Scotland, She actually wrote eight volumes to her autobiography. I don't know if the other five have been published, but I loved the first three. I had never heard of Molly Weir, but she was very famous in Scotland as a radio and television actress. From early childhood, she was involved in some kind of theatre or acting. She was very influenced by her "grannie," whom she adored. As a young child she grew up in a tenement, where all five in her family lived in two rooms, but their lives were rich and strong and filled with optimism. She writes with an ear for the Scottish brogue and often laughs at herself. I became totally immersed in her world! Don't miss the opportunity to experience this book!
