I bought the book because the title caught my attention, but I wasn't disappointed. The book ia a commentary on modern art in English churches, and surveys some of the most important and beautiful pieces. Works by Epstein, Sutherland, and others are discussed and pictured. It's not an exhaustive commentary by any stretch of the imagination, but it does provide a good starting point for those like me who are interested in church art and architecture.
