Brought to you by Penguin. The original bestselling autobiography by comedian, novelist and national treasure Stephen Fry. Few people serve time in prison before studying at Cambridge. You might be surprised to know that Stephen Fry is one of them. Moab is My Washpot, the remarkable story of Stephen Fry's tumultuous early life, is by turns funny, shocking, tender, delicious, sad, lyrical, bruisingly frank and addictively readable. It's the story of a boy sent to a boarding school 200 miles from home at the age of seven, who survives beatings, misery, love, ecstasy, carnal violation, expulsion, imprisonment, criminal conviction, probation and catastrophe to emerge, at eighteen, ready to try and face the world in which he had always felt a stranger. Fry writes with the wit and warmth which have become his hallmark, but with shocking candour too. For anyone seeking to understand one of Britain's greatest cultural treasures, this book is utterly essential reading. ??? Stephen Fry 1997 (P) Penguin Audio 2010

A reassuring book that no matter what social background you come from, growing up sucks. This is a graphic book that will a) speak to a large number of the male population b) help women understand (maybe) their husbands and boyfriends. Stephen writes with an honesty that is at times difficult to read and at others out loud funny. Wonderful?.but keep it away from younger (

Stephen Fry is my Hero
This man is a national treasure and a truly great man, with the kinds of noble qualities that are rare these days. In this book, we are offered an honest and detailed account of the first twenty years of Stephen Fry's life, including humorous, touching and insightful anecdotes, thoughts and advice. It's such an interesting life story that it could be a work of fiction and it's so well written that it grips you like any novel. This book gives any fan - or otherwise - a chance to see what Stephen Fry is like off-screen, off-stage, at home. It's intimate, personal and really a great book overall.

I am a big fan of quite a bit of Stephen Fry's work and he is an excellent writer, but I could not keep this book since I would not want my children to read it.
