Seller's Description:
Fair. Presumed first American edition. 24mo in marbled paper covered boards over leather spine. Hinges cracked and a good portion of the spine strip perished. 64 pp. "The Minstrel's Cabinet" bears the imprint of D. Mallory, New York. Small engraving on title page of the play. Small single letter notations in the text of the paly (seemingly indication stage directions "L' and "R"). "Miss In Her Teens", originally staged as a short afterpiece in 1747, also bore the original subtitle "The Medely of Lovers" and was adapted from a late 17th century play, "La Parisienne" by Dancourt. Garrick himself played onje of the male leads in the original production and Edgar Allan Poe's mother, Eliza, made her stage debut in it at age 9. "The Minstrel's Cabinet" contains, among numerous other pieces, "Hail To The Chief", "Auld Lang Syne", "Adams and Liberty" and, not surprisingly, a number of Irish and scottish ditties.
