Grant (the Tiger) comes out of retirement to rescue a spoiled, little rich girl, he believes. Is he in for a rude awakening and a life change. He's an undercover expert that blends with any of his surroundings. He is also a hunk and he ends up finding out that the person he is rescuing is nothing like he expected and is hiding a secret that we don't know until the end of the book. This is the first in a three set series of undercover government agent books. 1 Midnight Rainbow, Diamond Bay and White Lies. I thought this was the best of the series.

Delightfully trashy adventure novel
Midnight Rainbow is a delightfully trashy adventure novel. It begins with a barely good enough reason for the heroine to be in the jungle in the first place, and a fairly decent plan for getting her out. But that's not why we are reading this book, is it? of course not! We want some romance action! And Linda Howard delivers. This is a book that you do not have to think about. Just read and escape!

Tiger comes back...
Grant Sullivan (aka Tiger) comes back after retirement to aid in the capture of a kidnapped woman from a very bad man. When he finds her, she appears to be in collusion with the espionage plot as she looks more like a guest than prisoner. He watches and picks his day for extraction. When he gets to her room, he is surprised and attacked - by none other than Jane herself. Unbeknownst to Grant, Jane is on a mission to free herself. She has been captive and has been biding her time for escape. She will not let him thwart her (or so she thinks). This is their story through the jungle toward freedom. He fights all the way with his interest in her and his gut feeling that she is treasonous. She fights with him all the way as she with her interest in him and she also holds some very important cargo and she trusts no one should they find it. Her past makes her an enigma as she is a strong sure woman who can handle herself physically. Yet, she is also driven by a couple of fears so great that she appears childlike in some instances. Their story unfolds and they learn to trust each other, only to grapple again when she appears to turn. Their story is truely enthralling. The twists in the story are just wonderful and you will be surprised at this Howard novel. This is not her typical man meets woman, falls for her and determidely makes her his. NO, in this novel, it is the woman who plays the cards to get her man. You will have to read this wonderful novel to find out the lengths she goes to when they part ways with her safety. Grant and Jane show in another Howard novel wherein Kell Sabin's story is told. This is a woman who's strength rivals any man in any novel. Second read likely.
