Moreover, in spite of today's admission criteria, there is still a self-selection process in which those who expect a net gain are likely to migrate. Empirical evidence shows that legal immigrants, with time and particularly for women, are working. However, the correlation between income and education is stronger than ever in the new economy. Lastly, because the U.S. political system still offers inclusion for legal immigrants, they are becoming more incorporated by both "choice" and "coercion."
