"Martha Peake" is a brilliant, engrossing novel that will hold your interest from start to finish. I loved it so much that I bought copies for several friends and they all enjoyed it as much as I did. It's"old-fashioned" in several ways, especially in the narrative style, but one quickly becomes accustomed to it, and is soon absorbed in the story, unlike any other of recent memory. I cannot recommend it too highly.
