Marius' Mules II - The Belgae, is the sequel to Marius' Mules. This is a series that follows Caesar in Gaul. The Belgae opens after the first winter in Gaul. Immediately, the reader feels excited about campaigning again with Fronto. The battle scenes are so real and thrilling: Roman shields crashing into barbarians, Centurions shouting orders, metal against metal, blood and carnage,.. Mr Turney keeps the reader entertained between battles and assaults with Fronto's adventures and the intrigue of being so near to Caesar. I highly recommend both of these books (see his other books, too) and am looking forward to Marius' Mules III !
