And I mourn over your not showing me things till it's too late to do anything, less or more. I'm at the saddest part of my autobiography, and think extremely little of myself -- then and now. I was sulky and quarreled with all life -- just because I couldn't get the one thing I chose to fancy. Now I can get nothing I fancy -- all the world ebbing away, and the only question for me now, What next? If you could only change souls with me for five minutes! -- what a wise Katie you would be, when you got your own fanciful one back again.
