Revised edition of this 1953 study, "Historical Handbook Series No. 15"--with an unusual addition: Tipped to the inside front cover is an original carbon copy of a Typed Letter Signed from Wilshin to noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar ARNOLD GATES (1914-93), 1p, 8½" X 11", Manassas, VA, 1957 February 14. Near fine. On "National Park Service" letterhead, Wilshin asks Gates (as secretary of the Civil War Round Table of New York) "to enlist the aid of your membership in uncovering materials relating to the First and Second Battles of Manassas (Bull Run)...."
