Man of Stone is John Irvine's early work and has been celebrated as some of his best work of poetry within New Zealand in the modern century. His ability to capture emotions, feeling, and imagery through brash and sarcastic measures is unparalleled to others. John says: Man of Stone genesis... This came about in the traditional manner... love poetry for a girlfriend. Terrible stuff really. This English ex-pat was the trigger for me... this novelist/writer and embryonic poet inspired me to take stock of what I was doing and I blossomed at age 60. A few years flashed by and I was submitting globally to online magazines and ezines and on fire.
