The Greek ancient Theban army had no problem with soldiers loving each other; in reality, they saw a positive thing in two males boding during a war. Both men wanted to fight together and protected each other during battles. The most famous army of males bonding with males was formed in the city state of Thebes in ancient Greece. The Sacred Band of Thebes, which remained invincible from 378-338 AD, had an elite army of 150 male pairs (300 soldiers) who were male pairs in love and fought together in battle. The Sacred Band of Thebes power started with its crucial role in the Battle of Leuctra (371 BC), when they defeated the Spartans. According to Greek historians, the warriors were selected according to their body power and military experience. They were male lovers who not only loved each other but also the art of war. The Greek city of Thebes saw that connection between two male lovers as a positive force for its army. As history tells us, the Spartan army was beaten by the Sacred Band of Thebes, made totally of male lovers.
