Some of the products described here may very well be unfamiliar to those who haven?t worked with certain types of magick, specifically hoodoo and New Orleans style voodoo. The author, Anna Riva, has her own line of incense, oils and powders, and conveniently enough, most of the items described here are directly available from her own product line. But a lot of these formulas (such as High John The Conqueror) are sold by plenty of other manufacturers, and this book gives the reader a fairly good idea of what these incenses and powders were actually intended for. Each type of incense, and each type of powder, gets its own brief entry. Sometimes, a spell or prayer is included in the description. There is also a ?planetary hours guide? telling which planet presides over each specific hour of the day; some people may find this helpful in formulating spells. This is a reference book. None of the descriptions are overly in-depth, but can still be helpful if you suddenly end up with a jar of Rose Of Crucifixion incense or Jezebel powder, and don?t know what to do with them. The text is presented in Riva?s usual easy-to-read style. This is an introductory work for those who want to know more about the various uses for certain types of occult-oriented incenses and powders.
