Seller's Description:
Fine in Near fine jacket. From the publisher: "Collects over one hundred recipes from the fictional, but enviable notebooks of the wife of Georges Simenon's Inspector Maigret, providing full instructions, methods, accompaniments, and alternatives" Jules Maigret, or simply Maigret, is a fictional French police detective, a commissaire of the Paris Brigade Criminelle, created by writer Georges Simenon. Between 1931 and 1972, 75 novels and 28 short stories about Maigret were published, starting with Pietr-le-Letton ("The Strange Case of Peter the Lett") and concluding with Maigret et Monsieur Charles ("Maigret and Monsieur Charles"). With the creation of Maigret, Simenon renewed the detective novel genre. The novels and stories have been translated into more than 50 languages. The Maigret stories have also received numerous film, television and radio adaptations. Fine in white paper covered boards with gilt titles on the spine and a gilt illustration on the front cover. No marks or damage at all. Unclipped DJ has just very slight edge wear. Appears unread and could pass for new. SC.

Seller's Description:
Near Fine. First edition thus. Trade paperback. Preface by Georges Simenon. Translated by Mary Manheim. Illustrated by Nikolaus E. Wolf. 183pp. Wrappers with a touch of edgewear, near fine. Wine glossary by Jack Lang. A Harvest/HBJ Book.
to be honest, have not made any of the recipes
i particularly love the wine list at the back of
the book, its excellent, concise, not too much
info but what is there is reliable
I adore the book jacket photo, in keeping with
Madame's detective husband, Maigret, the hcover
includes a picture of Maigret, his revolver, French
newspapers, mussels (my favorite dish), a bottle
of Calvados, a pix of Edith Piaf, a boxer i do not
know, and some fruit--i am collage artist so i
appreciate this. The hardcover jacket is prettier
I have a copy of the softcover, photo reduced .
Clearly, i have explained nothing of the recipes
but they look first rate. Not complicated. Well
presented.
