Hungarian folk stars Muzsikás reveal the roots of klezmer in a repertoire from the Transylvanian Jewish community decimated by the Nazis, and a sliver of that horror lives on in Gypsy violinist Gheorghe Covavi's searing solo on "Ane Maamin," which he remembers hearing weeping Auschwitz survivors sing, and in Márta Sebestyén's cold but beautiful a cappella turn, "Farewell to Shabbat." Rollicking dances balance the darker pieces, but even these have the melancholy disconnectedness of an archaeological dig. ~ Bob Tarte, Rovi
