The first volume of this set has a book plate designed by Tiffany and Co. which is signed by the author and dedicated to Henry A Whitley whose name is also embossed on the inside cover. Luther Burbank was an American botanist and the best-known horticulturist in the United States. He developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants over his 55-year career.
