In fact, some two-thirds of the snake species native to Louisiana are found in'the low lands. Our true dryland snakes, such as the coach whip, bullsnake, pine snake and the poisonous coral snake, are confined to the three upland sec tions of the state. These are the coastal plain terraces of the Florida parishes the coastal plain terraces of central and southwestern Louisiana.
