I remember when Baedeckers were the bible for travelers from anywhere to anywhere. I am very interested in the London of Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes. This nice early Baedecker has a tremendous amount of useful information. Unfortunately, this copy is in poor condition (properly described as such) and is missing the one map I really wanted. Even so, it is a good reading copy and has a terrific bibliography of other period references, some of which I was able to track down.
