Lola Rabbit used to be part of the traveling carnival in Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?"LolaÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s Amazing Journey HomeÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?Â? by Nancy R. Myers. She loved playing tunes on her bell as she greeted the guests and kept company with the carnival dog, Buddy. One day, she was curious and hopped to a nearby park. While she was gone, she didnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t realize the carnival packed up and left town. Now she had no place to live, no food to eat, and she would miss her best friend, Buddy. Not knowing what to do, she decided to hop around town to see if she could find a safe place to live and some food to eat. Did Lola find a place to stay and food? Would she ever see Buddy again?
I adored Lola and had hoped that she could find the provisions she needed to remain safe and content being on her own. When the carnival packed up and left without her because she didnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t tell anyone she was going exploring, I was nervous that she might not be able to find what she needed. I especially felt bad that she would no longer keep company with Buddy since they had always been together. I loved how Ms. Myers created Lola and BuddyÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s characters to be warm and friendly so children of all ages would instantly fall in love with them. I especially loved finding out that her character Buddy was based on her real-life dog named Buddy.
The illustrations done throughout the book are adorable and children will love looking at the pictures while having the story read to them, or while they are learning to read. As youÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢re reading the story with your children, they can follow along with the pictures, and you can ask them questions based on what they are looking at on each page. This story provided plenty of entertainment for children and the adults reading along with them.
I feel children can learn a lot from this storyline. Not only does the author show how brave Lola was to explore the park and nearby town, but also how she was making friends as she hopped around. These new friends helped her along her journey of finding a new home and food to eat. What I especially loved about the story was that Lola believed in her heart that everything would work out for her. The belief of having courage and faith in whatever you set your mind to is a great thing to teach children from a very young age.
Overall, I loved reading this adventurous story. Although no age range was mentioned I feel it would fit younger readers who are learning to read or for them to follow along while being read to. Honestly, as an adult reviewer, I loved reading Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?"LolaÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s Amazing Journey HomeÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?Â? by Nancy R. Myers and I loved how close she was to Buddy. I found myself hoping, just like Lola was, that everything would work out for her in the end. I highly recommend this story. Well done, Ms. Myers!
