Over the last decade or so, alternativo-movimiento singer and songwriter Larry Hernandez has driven himself to be one of the most profiled, publicly seen, and highest-charting singer in Mexican regional music. This is not his first hits collection, but it is the best one. At over 20 tracks it covers the entirety of his career and contains nearly all of his hit singles and best-known songs. Some of the hits included are "Piloto Canabis," "El Baleado" (and its sequel "La Continuación del Baleado"), "Lista Negra," "División MP," "La Tragedia de Los Ayones," "Arturo Beltran" (the traditional recounting of the life and death of narco trafficante Arturo Beltran Leyva), and the lovely "Carita de Ángel." While Hernadez's sound is polished and modern, his melodies are rooted in tradition. His lyrics are as gritty as the lives and situations they depict.
