This is a beautiful book of photojournalism, published a few years after the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. With vivid photos accompanied by descriptive text, the book describes the Tibetan exile capital community of Dharamsala, India. The book's foreword is by the Dalai Lama. Candid photos offer glimpses into the beautiful mountainous setting and all aspects of the multi-faceted lives of relocated Tibetan people. The heartfelt writing gives a closeup view of the impact of seeing the Dalai Lama in person, and how Tibetan culture and its unique form of Buddhism survives with the optimism of its people following Communist Chinese genocide in Tibet since before 1959. This coffee-table book is becoming a collector's item because Dharamsala has become ever more tourist oriented since the writing of LIVING TIBET. This book captures its old charm.
