Trumpeter Valery Ponomarev, tenor saxophonist Don Braden, pianist John Hicks, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Victor Jones are very much inspired during five hard bop originals by the leader, as well as "Theme for Ernie" (which John Coltrane recorded decades earlier).
