English summary: That at all times men have not only had intellect, but also emotions must be considered a certain fact. The bourgeois gender discourse that developed in the 19th century, and which has dominated cultural Modernism ever since, has prevented a straight forward discussion of forms and figuration of emotional masculinity and male emotions to this day by, in a polarizing manner, equating masculinity with rationality and femininity with emotions. The contributors to this volume work against a dichotomist coding of gender whose stereotyped results are still in effect today, by addressing the crucial significance of emotions for the construction of masculinity in literature and culture at very different periods of time. In doing so, the papers analyze the correlation between literary masculinities and emotions both in the context of and based on the results of current interdisciplinary research on masculinity and emotion.
