This is a particularly fine single-disc compilation, offering 22 tracks of Nesmith's countrified work with his First National Band after he departed the Monkees. What stands out is his real gift as a songwriter (particularly on tunes like "Joanne," "Harmony Constant," and "Some of Shelly's Blues") as well as a hitmaker (as with his original version of "Different Drum" that was such a hit for Linda Ronstadt). The sound also owes a great debt to the fine pedal steel work of Orville J. 'Red' Rhodes. ~ Tim Sheridan, Rovi
