You won't find anybody explaining any optical physics or engineering aspect better than Marcuse. A pioneer himself in optical communication, Marcuse doesn't let you feel wondering about the physics of the problems he presents but explains them in clear and concise manner. I recommend this book to any engineering or physics student wanting to know the theory behind practical optics.
