Title lettering brightly in gilt to cover and spine. Trace fading to cloth at spine; front coated endpage missing. Front and bottom edge of the text block with an old but not period gilt/bronzing. Illustrated with lithograph frontis portrait, lacking tissue guard. Light offset toning from the frontis to the title page. Text tightly bound and very fresh. 2 pages of Townsend ads at rear. Important biography of this Moravian missionary to the Ohio area Native Americans. In much better condition than usually seen. Howes R429. VG.
