Seller's Description:
Very Good Plus in Very Good jacket. Frank Harris (1856-1931), a friend of Wilde and Shaw, is perhaps most famous today for his scandalous sexual autobiography, "My Life and Loves, " With arguments by the American academic Kate Stephens (1853-1938), this expose was obviously driven by its editors, Gerrit and Mary Caldwell Smith, who believed that Harris had libeled their relative, Byron Caldwell Smith. This is a Very Good Plus copy of the First Edition. Magenta cloth binding with gilt lettering. Clean text; 197 pages, some unopened. Mild corner bumps and about 1/4" of sunfade on the bottom of the boards. Penciled notation on the half-title; evidence of an old dampstain on the rear panel. The dustjacket is complete, but shows a bit of wear: the spine has tanned, though lettering is still bright and clear; the rear flap is splitting and there are chips at the corners and a 1/2" chip at the head of the spine. An interesting and somewhat uncommon title. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall.
