Seller's Description:
Very Good. 8vo, original green cloth, recased with recent endpapers, cloth spine on which much of the original spine has been laid down, very good, light wear to corners, minor age toning and mildest foxing. xv, 215 pp. Buxton was an ardent abolitionist in Britain; even when the slave trade was abolished in 1807, there was still work to be done on the institution of slavery throughout the British Empire and in its relations with African nations, and as a member of Parliament, Buxton led the English abolitionists, taking over from William Wilberforce. Buxton was a member of Parliament until 1837, but still stayed active in the movement. Remarkably uncommon: no recent copies at auction, and only six located by OCLC, a few of which might actually be "internet resources."
