Close analogies connecting acute spinal paralysis of the adult with that of the child. Symptomatological modifications due to age. Prognosis. Recent works concerning the pathological anatomy and physiology of infantile spinal paralysis; they confirm in essential points, and complete in certain respects, the results already detailed. A word as to acute sjiinal lesions which are not, as in infantile paralysis, systematically limited to the anterior cornua of the grey substance. Acute central generalised myelitis, Juemalomyelia, traumatic myelites, acute partial myelites. Conditions in which these affections determine the rapid atrophy of the muscles. I. Gentlemen, --It is now a long time since M. Duchenne (de Boulogne) noted the existence, in the adult, of an acute spinal paralysis, comparable to that of the child.1 Dr. Moritz Meyer,2 of Berlin, and Dr. Koberts,3 have also, in past days, reported cases which evidently belong to this category.
