Good but not her best.
I enjoy Barbara Brown Taylor, have read other her books and heard her speak. While I enjoyed this book, I have to say it was not her best. It should have been titled, "Anatomy of a Burned-Out Pastor". Taylor's problem is a familiar one among clergy - self-care and boundaries. No one every survives in pastoral ministry without these two things or serves his or her people well.
I was left wondering whether Taylor is not called to do what she and others like Frederick Buechner (who never served a parish) do best - WRITE! That she does very well, which is why I still recommend this book, despite its flaws.
