When reflecting back on my 25 years as a police officer, many realizations come to mind. Foremost is the fact that in those 25 years, I experienced almost every emotion known to man - love, hate, fear, etc. However, the emotion that was my ally, the emotion that helped me survive, was HUMOR. Not to say that the violence observed is not etched in my mind, it is, but the humor somewhat diminishes the unpleasant memories.
