Illustrating this fact is Lasting Impressions, a 1989 CD containing material the Fred Cash/Sam Gooden/Ralph Johnson/Reggie Torian lineup recorded in the mid-1970s. This fine album boasts the major R&B hits "Same Thing It Took" and "Sooner or Later," and the group is equally impressive on "Old Before My Time" (a disturbing song about having to grow up much too fast), the Spinners-influenced "First Impressions" and a splendid cover of Bunny Sigler's ballad "Sunshine" (which was also recorded by the O'Jays).
