Léon Boëllmann remains a little known composer, despite a small resurgence in interest on the 100th anniversary of his death in 1997. He was born in Alsace and died in Paris at the age of 35. Boëllmann's most influential teachers were organists, and, hence, he also became an organist and choir master. He was admired by fellow French composers.
