Trio Parnassus and violist Gérard Caussé have put all of those works together on this one album, giving the music an attractive appeal that should bring it a bit of welcome exposure. It isn't innovative in any way, but it is nonetheless well written, with balance between the instruments in the Piano Trio and Piano Quartet -- the heart of the recording -- pleasing melodies and textures, and character that is dramatic and slightly sentimental, but not too much so.
