Seller's Description:
Very Good in Very Good jacket. 8vo. 224pp, index, bibliography, bw ills, endpaper maps. Or boards in jacket. Price clipped, slightly rubbed and faded on spine. The eruption of Krakatoa in 1883 was possibly the loudest sound heard on earth-it was indeed heard 3000 miles away. Drawing on contemporary records, buried and forgotten in Javanese newspapers the author tells the complete vivid story for the first time.
I read this book when I was younger and I enjoyed it now as I did then. Not as accurate in the geology aspects as Simon Winchester's version, but that's understandable given the age of the book. If you're interested in major geologic events, especially one such as Krakatoa, this will make a great addition to your collection.
