Seller's Description:
As New in Fair jacket. Folio-over 12-15" tall. pp. 64. Book appears new and unread in pale grey boards with gilt lettering. Dust jacket is quite good at the front, with some marks and dents, but has 2.5" tear down the top of the back cover. Part of the Abrams Great Modern Masters series, this provides a beautifully illustrated overview of Kokoschka's (1886-1980) work, with 82 illustrations, including 69 in full colour. Born in Austrai, he studied in Vienna and was initially influenced by Art Nouveau and the work of Gustav Klimt. He developed into one of the leading Expressionists, and his work darkened after he was seriously wounded during World War I. Condemned as 'degenerate' by the Nazis, he left for London in 1938, and moved to Switzerland after the war ended. The size of this book may mean extra postage is required outside Europe.
