She was just an instrument. A weapon. He wanted it to be in that house, inside the house where the cop believed his little girl would always be safe. Another great Eve Dallas mystery
As usual, Nora Roberts, writing as J D Robb delivers. First a disclaimer - I am a hard core fan of the NR-J D Robb 'In Death' mysteries. This one did not disappoint. It is dark and somewhat gruesome but it also serves as a cautionary tale for innocent young people. This mystery, like so many for Eve Dallas is like peeling an onion and its layers lead to old and unfortunate connections.
The first victim is an NYPSD Captain's only teenage daughter and her murder is any parent's worst nightmare. The investigation leads to the world of local collegians and it features Roark's protege Jamie Lingstrom, who is now a college student. His computer genius helps Eve, Roark, and Feeney to ultimately solve the case.
As usual with Eve's cases, there is also a Roark connection and as the investigation goes on, their fantastic relationship deepens and continues to evolve even as he helps her and her team to solve the crime.
It's also really nice to see the evolution of the other people in Eve and Roark's world and to see Charles and Louise reach a major milestone.
I've added this one to my collection and can't wait for the next one.

Always love these books and am waiting eagely for the next one. What an imagination without the ridiculousness of most futuristic books!
