Superior history
This book is hands down the best account of any of the coastal landings carried out by the National Army during the Irish Civil War in 1922. The author was a direct particpant in the landing at Fenit and, in addition to his own personal recollection of the event, has done readers, researchers, and historians an admirable job of interviewing other participants in the episode, from both sides of the conflict, and piecing together an absolutely engrossing account of the action. Although there were at least half a dozen othr sizeable landings and at least as many smaller coastal landings or river crossings by the National Army, this is the only one that comes close to being well documented. This book is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in the coastal landings during the Irish Cvil War and is highly recommended. The author's style makes for both interesting and easy reading.
