This sounds like a Sibelius cliché, but Aho takes the concept into new realms, and his writing for the soloists is genuinely haunting. Concertos for either of these instruments solo are rare enough, and this is probably the only one for the pair. Aho's music is stylistically diverse, and the Triple Concerto for violin, cello, piano, and chamber orchestra is a peppier work, a neoclassic essay intertwined in its first movement with quotations from a lullaby melody...
