In a Class by Itself
I bought this edition of the King James Bible not only as a gift to myself after I was baptized as an adult in the Episcopal Church, but also to replace a very worn out copy that I originally purchased for a Bible for Students of Literature course in graduate school that I subsequently wrote all over when I later decided to read the entire Bible on my own. In additional to the lovely, aqua colored cover complete with detailing across the top, anyone with the capacity to appreciate Shakespeare will fall in love with the poetic brilliance of the King James translation. Despite this being a Protestant translation, even my father, who is a Roman Catholic who hates recreational reading states that nothing compares to the King James. Even if the King James Bible does not reflect one's personal religious beliefs, I would recommend it to anyone wishing to read a beautifully done translation of one of most important works in the English language, if not the entire Western literary canon. The King James Bible is truly in a class by itself.
