Good. 1980 signed and inscribed first edition, Princeton University Press (Princeton, New Jersey), 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches tall black cloth hardcover in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, grey endpapers, illustrated with black-and-white photographs, index, 313 pp. Very slight rubbing to covers. At the top margin of the title page, affectionately inscribed ('with long love') to prior owner Leonard Pronko (1927-2019), an American theatre scholar best known for introducing the Japanese dance drama kabuki to the West, beginning in the 1960s, and signed by the author, Ruby Cohn (1922-2011). Prof. Pronko's underlining or notes grace about a dozen pages.
