It may be not without profit to contrast our experiences of travelling in this age of steam, surrounded by so many appliances for comfort and luxury, with those narrated in this Journal. Perhaps it will result in looking back with less regret at what are called the good old days, and in cultivating a spirit of greater contentment with our own.
