In the spirit of Mozart but in practice more akin to the chamber music of his contemporary Louis Spohr, Kreutzer's music is efficient and unpretentious, abounding with infectious melodies, bouncing rhythms, and convivial repartee, and avoiding any trace of Romantic drama or pathos.
