Reproduces in 1: 1 facsimile the prompt books of the actor John Kemble (1757-1823). Complete with Kemble's notations, there are 26 Shakespeare plays and also 'Wheel of Fortune' by Richard Cumberland, 'The Stranger' and 'Pizarro' by August von Kotzebue, 'Rule a Wife and Have a Wife' by John Fletcher, 'Venice Preserv'd' by Thomas Otway and 'Cato' by Joseph Addison'. The editor has provided an introduction of several pages for each play. All volumes are rubbed lightly at the spine ends and corners. One volume has a light bump at upper corner. All pages are clean and unmarked. The bindings are tight with square spines. A handsome set.
