Jean-Michel Defaye's Pièces (6) d'Audition is a straightforward series of exercises which, in spite of their dryness, come off as engaging miniatures when supplied with a little wit. More engaging is Peter Schickele's Dances for Three, a suite of Baroque-styled dances delivered in a tongue-in-cheek manner. In this performance, a bass clarinet is substituted for the original bassoon part. Clarinetist David Shea joins the trio for Gary Kulesha's clarinet quartet Political Implications.
