Seller's Description:
None. Very Good. A collection of lyrics by the Irish poet Thomas Moore. In an ornate morocco binding with beautiful silk endpapers and gilt design to pastedowns. This work is the sixth edition published just four years after its initial publication. His Irish Melodies were enormously popular and they contain some of his best known works such as 'The Minstrel Boy' and 'The Last Rose of Summer'. Thomas Moore's work was initially rather generic and had he not altered his writing style he probably would not have found fame. In a full straight grain morocco binding with ornate gilt stamping to the boards and spine. Externally, very smart with small patches of slight rubbing to the spine, joints and rear board. One small patch of rear board is heavily rubbed. Rubbing to spine is contained mostly to the head and tail. Spine has faded ever so slightly as expected with colour. Pastedowns are also decorative with gilt stamping and further morocco. Endpapers are silk covered. Internally, firmly bound. It would appear an endpaper prior to title page has been removed. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot throughout. Very Good.
