A year later, the Spanish inflicted an even greater defeat on their rivals in La Coru???a and Lisbon than that of the Invincible: 190 ships had theirs in 1589 in comparison to our 130 in 1588, but both returned home with only 102. In this context, the real one is that of author Juan P???rez-Foncea, who situates the adventures and vicissitudes of Santiago Guriezo, surrounded by essential characters of that period such as Alonso de Leyva, the second commander of the Invincible (and whom Cervantes extolled in La Galatea). A vibrant and well-woven plot reveals to the reader, documented with exquisite rigor, the true history of those legendary years.
