At the end Of six years of trial, during which time the Operation has been performed upon thousands of cases, intubation stands in a position to be judged on its merits, and to be compared with the operation of tracheotomy as a life-saving measure. There are two methods of presenting this com parison to the reader: (i) By the relation of per sonal experience and by weight of authority1 (2) by the statistical method, which is open to the Objection pertaining to all statistical inquiries in medicine.
