As the title of the book says, it's really an introduction to defender's play. Someone who just started to play recently and is interested in learning the very basics of defense (some basic signalling, when to cover an honor, when to duck in third-hand play) will find this book very helpful. But someone who's already progressed from novice to intermediate would do better to look for more advanced books on defense.
It also is written very simply and lacks much of the humor of Kantar's other books.
