Introductory articles cover all aspects of the subject, particularly industry initiatives towards sustainability, safety and responsibility. Case studies show regional initiatives in action. A reference section with bibliography is also included, as is a list of conferences and courses. The contents include sections on biological waste treatment; collection and transport; hazardous wastes; recycling and waste minimization; sanitary landfilling; sewage and waterworks sludge; thermal treatment of waste; and geographical articles.
